For a Houston-area family, homeschooling is not one decision. It is a stack of decisions that multiplies quickly: approach, curriculum, schedule, community, outside supports, and the specific fit of each child.
The real problem
Curriculum matters, but families are often trying to choose from tens of thousands of combinations in their heads from Facebook threads, church conversations, curriculum ads, and advice from friends. A plan simplifies that grid into one coherent next step.
A plan is not a rigid school schedule
A useful homeschool plan answers the questions that determine whether the first month will hold together: what to do first, what to delay, which support matters, where each child needs attention, and when the family should review the setup.
The goal is not to map the whole year perfectly. The goal is to stop guessing at every fork in the road.

That usually means more tabs open, more curriculum comparisons, more opinions, and less clarity about what the household can actually do next Monday.
With a plan
Each resource, activity, and support is chosen because it serves a known need, not because it sounded like something a good homeschool family should add.
First month
A good first-month plan should include what to watch, what to simplify first, and when to decide whether the setup needs to change.
